Default Getting Into Higher Levels Of Gvg: PArt II

Well, as i was reviewing the old Getting into Higher Level of Gvg thread, i was struck by a thought....
Now, let me summarize the solutions given in that thread first:
Basically, get on #gwp, make contacts, guest with top guilds, and hope they invite you or recognize your talent (atleast my interpretation)......

Now, Anet has thrown a kink into the works....They have stated that now, in addition to daily automated gvg, all members of team must be atleast 30 day old members of the guild.....This translates to: No Guests.......

Now, discuss getting into higher level gvg with Anet's new spin on the game......

P.S: link to old thread http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...evel+of+gvg%22

i was under the impression that to even participate in a GVg you had to be in the guild for 30 days?

Edit:

This means that guests will NOT be allowed for tournament play (thus, the end of smurf and tank guilds)! I recommend creating or joining the guild you want to compete in NOW so you will be eligible for the first automated tournaments when they start in early 2007.

That relates to Automated tournaments. You can still guest for ladder GvGs. Top teams will still need recruits as players leave (although movement will likely be slowed by this with Guild leaders less keen to kick and players less keen to jump).

It's actually going to be even easier to guest(according to what Anet states) than befor esince these ladder games don't really amoun tot much more than practice. Having said that, I've found it's best to just start up your own guild. By the time you are recognized enough to be asked for guesting, you will be way more prepared and less likely to make a fool of yourself.

It is far easier to guest now because a guild risks much less if they those a regular season game because of a scrub guest. As long as they can win more than 80% of the time (which is very easy atm), they will gain rating even if the guests are substandard. It is a win-win, as everyone gets to play more gvgs and people get to make more contacts.

On the other hand, the gap between guest and potential member is much higher now, at least for my guild. We used to only guest people we thought were good enough to be potential members, but now sometimes just a body will do -- even a chimp with downs syndrome can run some builds well enough not to cost games in the current meta.

The full effects are yet to be seen. People zerg the ladder now because there is nothing else to do, but will people still want to play the ladder instead of the nightly tournies? There is a good chance that people will shift focus to the tournies and just not play as much free play.
